Today I am sending out the materials for the November quilt blocks. I am thinking wonky stars with some fun fabrics floating on a background of natural linen. In your package you will find five different six inch squares of printed fabric along with some natural linen for the background. I referred to Silly BooDilly’s tutorial at http://thesillyboodilly.blogspot.com/2009/02/wonky-star-tutorial.html to make mine and it was easy to follow. Bonnie Hunter calls them Maverick Stars and has another popular tutorial at http://www.quiltville.com/maverickstars.shtml. I hope you will enjoy it and I cannot wait to see what you create!
The Uzárraga Family
Hi, I am Missy Uzárraga. I am very excited to be a part of this quilting group. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to find a package in the mail this morning! I learned to sew garments and bags in 1998. Shortly after I decided to teach myself to quilt! I have been quilting ever since with some help from my friends along the way. I piece on a Juki TL 98Q and do my quilting on my APQS Millenium longarm machine named Mary Emma. I also have a Kenmore 16231 machine that we use for garment sewing and teaching my girls to sew. Speaking of my girls, I am the mom to 5 year old triplets daughters! They just started 5K last Wednesday and so far we are all loving it! Last summer I transitioned from being a full time Spanish Professor at a College about an hour from home to working full time at home doing the Spanish courses online. Let me just say that I am loving it!!! I look forward to working with each of you and getting to know you better. Have a great day!
